Disney is magical. A Disney vacation is arguably the only destination that truly immerses you in a place away from reality. As you start to think about planning a Disney vacation you may start to follow groups on Facebook and lean on friends and family for tips. You will quickly hear stories about free upgrades, any-ride fastpasses, being chosen to be in the Magic Kingdom parade, and other fun pixie dust that people receive. Along with that you will hear a lot of opinions on how to find the “Disney Magic” or get “Pixie Dust” on your next vacation.
As a travel agent that specializes in Disney, I want nothing more than for my clients to go on their trip and experience something above and beyond their expectations. It brings me so much happiness to know that my clients feel like they have been gifted with Disney magic on their trip. I have been on the receiving end of this magic and I can say that it truly is a one of a kind feeling when it happens to you.
Now I’m going to spill my top 3 secrets on how you may be able to score some pixie dust on your next vacation…

1. Wear a park button and wear it every day! There are FREE park buttons that you can get at the front desk of your resort and other areas around the parks. These buttons are called celebration buttons and they have them for 1st Visits, Anniversaries, Birthdays, and general ones that say Celebrating! If you are at Disney and celebrating… wear one! Solo trip? Grab a Celebrating button. Is your birthday coming up in a week? Grab a birthday button! You are likely to get some extra pixie dust or at least a lot of kind attention from Cast Members by sporting it every day!
2. Be kind. Ok so this should be common sense, but some people on vacation (especially
those that are stressing because they didn’t use a travel agent 😉) can be down-right rude! Well don’t be rude and you may get some extra magic. Chat up the Cast Members with genuine conversation. Ask them about their day, talk to them about the University they are there interning for or the state the are from (located on their badge), or simply thank them for doing what they do and making Disney World so special! I got a FREE ticket upgrade from a base ticket to a park hopper ticket so I could experience Food & Wine Festival after finishing exploring Galaxy’s Edge on opening weekend by simply being kind and having a fun conversation with the Cast Member! It works.

3. Don’t go looking for it. This is the biggest mistake that people can make. When you go to Disney knowing that Sally from high school that you haven’t talked to in 10 years got her hotel room upgraded to a theme park view and so you are going in with the intentions of that happening and you are going to make it happen, then guess what…. It won’t happen!! It’s just not how it works. Put positive energy and your own magic out into the universe and it will come back to you! Be extra kind and generous. Be understanding of parents with melting down children. Brush off the line hopper instead of being angry and letting it ruin your day. Be happy accomplishing what you can in a day vs. focusing on what you didn’t have time to do. This positive energy will shine and Cast Members will notice!! I joked about this a lot on my girls trip to Food & Wine Festival a few years back and guess what… it happened! My two girlfriends and I were chosen as family of the day at the Polynesian! We got to lead the torch lightening ceremony, got front seats to the fire dancing show, and got free professional photos with unlimited downloads of the whole experience!
The moral of the story is Disney magic is REAL!! And it will find you if you let it. Follow the tips above and you will be that much closer to extra pixie dust on your next Walt Disney World vacation!
