Copy Cat Annie Anne Pretzels

My son and I made a copy cat version of Auntie Anne's pretzel bites. I tweaked ours a bit to be more of a sweet treat! After we dipped them in butter we tossed them in a mix of cinnamon & sugar. They turned out so good! I could seriously eat these all day. They taste best when warm but are still very good room temperature as well! The recipe is super easy and really fun to make with kids! The recipe also makes a lot of them so there will be plenty left for later! I suggest using a stand mixer if you have one. It made making this much easier!

Ingredients

-2 cups milk

-1 1/2 tablespoons active dry yeast 2 packets -6 tablespoons brown sugar

-4 tablespoons butter melted

-5 to 5 1/2 cups flour

-2 teaspoons salt

-1/3 cup baking soda

-3 cups warm water

-Coarse salt

-8 tablespoons butter melted

Instructions

1.Warm up the milk in the microwave for just about one and a half minutes. I use a glass measuring cup to heat it in. If it's too hot it will kill the yeast. You should be able to comfortably keep your finger in it.

2.stir in the yeast and one tablespoon of the brown sugar and let it sit for about 10 minutes.

3.Now grab a large mixing bowl or the bowl of your stand mixer and pour the mixture in it.

4.Add the 4 tablespoons of butter and remaining brown sugar.

5.Add the flour about 1 cup at a time and then add the fine salt.

6.Knead for about 10 minutes with a stand mixer or by hand.

7.Put it in a greased bowl and cover with cling wrap.

8.Let rise for 1 hour in a moist, warm place until doubled in size. Preheat the oven to 450º.

9.Punch down dough and divide into 6 to 8 sections. Roll each piece with your hands to form a long rope as thin as you can.

10.Combine the warm water and baking soda in a wide bowl. Cut the dough into 1 1/2" pieces, then dip in the baking soda water. Place on a greased baking sheet and sprinkle with coarse salt.

11.Bake for about 6-10 minutes or until browned. Dip each homemade pretzel in the melted 8 tablespoons of butter while hot.

12. If desired toss in cinnamon sugar mixture & enjoy!
